Standing male ancestor figure
collected from the Melawi tribes of central Borneo.
This Hampatong "Tajahan" was erected close to the familial house along with
an other female figure to commemorate deceased relatives and protect the clan from malevolent spirits, carved from a single piece of
ironwood with minor crack
on the top and remnant of old paint. Height : 112 cm / 44 inch
