Dayak Fragment Pole Figure

Dayak pole figure collected in the
rain forest of Borneo during the 70's, such pole were used to protect
the village against evil spirit and were placed in the jungle on the
border of the village.This pole represente an ancestor figure and was probably more than 3 meters high and was recover with roots of others surrounding trees like Banian as a root still apear in the chest of the statue.
The pole was made of very heavy wood (iron wood) so common in Borneo and date back the 17th century as it take few centuries to get such erosion on this wood.
